Adrien Fourmaux: “A monstrous frustration”

During the first special on Friday morning everything went perfectly for the No. 1 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally16. In part-time work, Adrien fourmaux and Alexandre Coria were in front of Sébastien Loeb et Sébastien Ogier when they left the road just after crossing the Col de la Couillole.

« The entire climb was clean and it was when starting the descent that there were wet portions because it had not yet dried, says the pilot M-Sport. I had a little too much speed entering the corner, my distance was a little long... In the dry it would have been fine, but the braking zone was wet. I could not do anything. The embankment sent us into the air. It’s Monte-Carlo, it remains tricky… and I got fooled! »

Twenty-four hours after his antics, the northerner had time to analyze his mistake. “ I really liked this special, he sighs. I knew it very well and so I may have overlooked the risks that exist in each corner... and I braked too late! I was relaxed in the car. I have never been so in harmony in a time trial... You go from a dream of doing the Monte-Carlo, my rally of heart in an official team, on an outing where you just want to get under the ground. It's very disappointing, the frustration is monstrous. We don't score any points, neither for ourselves nor for the team. We must move forward, eliminate this fault and ensure that it does not happen again. » The next race for the Fourmaux/Coria duo is planned in Sweden (February 24-27).
