With or without boost, Sébastien Ogier crushes Monte-Carlo

Although handicapped by a failure of their hybrid system, Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais irresistibly escaped during this stage, building up a comfortable lead.

With or without boost, Sébastien Ogier crushes Monte-Carlo

What was observed last night during the two night stages was confirmed today. Although there was some residual snow here and there, the SS appeared as dry as if the Monte-Carlo took place in July. Only the salt sometimes used during the winter created a light film which was not really detrimental for the first cars.

Being the only driver to set off from Monaco with only 5 tires this morning, Sébastien Ogier did not go into detail in winning the three stages of the first loop. However, it wasn't as simple as that, since his hybrid system refused to work from the second stage. Taking more risks than he would undoubtedly have liked, the Haut-Alpin still managed to outdistance all his colleagues. With these two additional best times, the Frenchman not only increased his lead, but he also demonstrated his superiority over his rivals. On an identical car in perfect working order, neither Kalle Rovanperä nor Elfyn Evans managed to beat the eight-time world champion. The Welshman's puncture even deprived Ogier of his most serious opponent.

With a lead of more than 30 seconds and a Yaris once again equipped with boost, Sébastien no longer needed to be close to the limits. This did not prevent him from winning one more time and finishing the second day with a 36s margin over his Finnish teammate. Regularly, Ogier should not be worried.

There are also still 10 special stages remaining Ott Tänak or Esapekka Lappi to find instructions for their new mount.
