Budar: “The situation is clearly getting complicated”

Sébastien Ogier leaves Wales Rally GB 28 points behind Ott Tänak who completed a perfect event by winning the event and in the Power Stage. Suffice to say that it would take a completely missed weekend for the Estonian and a victory for the Frenchman for the latter to come back to the level of the driver Toyota two rounds from the end of the season.

“The Power Stage sums up our weekend, each time we were a couple of tenths behind, commented the six-time champion, beaten by 4 tenths on the last course. We did everything we could, but we lacked a little performance while Ott had a great weekend. It's not a good operation in the championship, with two more rallies to go, but we will continue to fight fiercely as long as there is a mathematical chance of winning the title. »

If Citroën is not aiming for the Manufacturers' title, it hopes to obtain the Drivers' title which has been held by a Frenchman since 2004!

“The situation in the championship is clearly getting complicated and we are going to need a little help from destiny for things to turn in the right direction, admitted Citroën Racing director Pierre Budar. But we are not giving up our arms. It's up to us to work to provide Sébastien and Julien (Ingrassia, his co-driver) with a car allowing them to play for victory in these two final rounds. Last week, Sébastien did a day of asphalt driving at our place in Satory, another was also carried out this week at the same place, and we will be testing for four days in Spain next week. We will give everything so as not to have regrets. »

Sébastien Ogier will try to reduce his delay Rally of Catalonia on the weekend of October 27, an event he won twice in 2013 and 2014.
