Elfyn Evans has one last hope of title in Finland

Since their splendid victory in Sweden last year, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin have no longer reached the top step of the podium purely on the strength of their performances. 13 months ago, in Turkey, they had a host of mechanical problems and retirements, including that of their teammate Sébastien Ogier (engine), to succeed in winning. Always honest, the Welshman had not gained any glory from it. He also didn't jump for joy when the suspension on the i20Ott Tänak had broken in SS14 of the last rally from Portugal. Powered to the lead, the British Yaris had achieved its only success so far in 2021. Combined with the three other podiums gleaned in Monte-Carlo, Croatia and Sardinia, this victory allowed the Cardiff driver to appear among the contenders for the title.
