In Sweden, Elfyn Evans grabs a second WRC victory

Elfyn Evans (Toyota) est devenu le premier Britannique à remporter le Rally from Sweden, this Sunday, February 16. The Welshman, who never let go of the controls of the second round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) since his scratch time in the first special, has also become the new leader of the Drivers ranking tied with Thierry Neuville (Hyundai).

The third stage only featured the Power Stage. With barely 21 km to go, Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja (Hyundai) failed to catch up. The Estonians are satisfied with second place, but unlock their championship counter after their retirement following an accident in Monte-Carlo.

The fight for the last step of the podium was much livelier. Starting in third place this morning, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (Toyota) gave in to a constant attack from the young (19 year old) Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota). The Finn becomes the youngest driver to score a WRC podium and win a Power Stage.

Behind, Esapekka Lappi (Ford) retained his fifth place for a fraction of a second against Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The Belgian consoles himself with 4 points collected in this Power Stage.

Craig Breen (Hyundai), Teemu Suninen (Ford) and Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) complete the top 10 in the WRC.

In WRC 2, success went, as in Monte-Carlo, to Mads Ostberg and Torstein Eriksen (Citroën), but the fastest crew aboard an R5 was Jari Huttunen-Mikko Lukka in a private Hyundai.
