European Broadcasting Union promoter of the WRC?

For the moment, there are two major themes occupying the discussions of the representatives of the FIA and the WRC. The first is to quickly find a promoter for the broadcast of the WRC. The second is the 2013 calendar. The promoter's affair could however approach an outcome according to our colleagues at?Motorsport. After a meeting between the stables, the organizers of rally, Jean Todt and Jarmo Mahonen (the president of the WRC commission), it seems that an agreement is on the horizon.

For the moment, EBU (European Broadcasting Union) is reportedly negotiating with the FIA to acquire the rights to the WRC. EBU is one of the largest associations of television broadcasters in the world. It includes more than 85 broadcasting organizations spread over more than 56 countries, including the USA, Australia and China. The important thing in this matter is that EBU also owns the main national broadcasters in all European countries hosting a WRC round. We are therefore talking here about channels like TF1, BBC, ZDF or RAI. And although no decision leaked from this meeting, EBU seems an ideal candidate, particularly thanks to its experience in sport. This company has already been responsible for relaying images of international events such as the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games. To be continued?
