The rescue operation was successful for Adrien fourmauxThe French driver managed to salvage the results of a very poor weekend on the Safari Rally on the final day of the Kenyan event. Forced to retire twice during the first two days – battery problems before joining SS2 on Thursday, broken suspension in SS7 on Friday – the Northerner could only hope for Sunday's points to save the day. First on the road, the driver Hyundai responded at the best of times and scored a clean sweep on Sunday, with five points from the Super Sunday (cumulative ranking of Sunday's specials) and five points from the Power Stage.

Result: despite a catastrophic start to the weekend, Adrien Fourmaux leaves Kenya with 10 additional points, an almost unexpected score for the Tricolore. "[Ten points] is pretty well paid. We didn't drive much and in the end, we took the maximum number of points on Sunday, reacted Adrien Fourmaux to RTBFWe tried to salvage the situation. What happened on Thursday was disappointing; it broke our momentum and our rallyI'm glad we've put things right, they're compensation points but they're important to take. We had to get to work, that's what the team asked me. We had to aim for Sunday and take points on Toyota and for my championship. We did the work so the team is happy and so am I."

Fourmaux, eyes turned towards the Canaries

Faced with the obligation to collect points on Sunday, while opening the road on the last five special stages, Adrien Fourmaux did not tremble despite a very contested day against Takamoto Katsuta and Thierry NeuvilleThe Frenchman emerged victorious from this three-way match, notably thanks to the Japanese's accident in the Power Stage. “Super Sunday was super hot, we were separated by six tenths with the last special, recognized the Hyundai driver. This [Sunday] morning, it was tough in the wet, it was easier in the Power Stage. It went pretty well, it was a good day. (…) It's always nice to score points today, after a while, you shouldn't be moping all the time because you didn't score points. I prefer to stay positive and we move forward."

Despite the satisfaction of having secured ten points in Kenya, the disappointment of not having finished the rally in the top 10 is still there for Adrien Fourmaux, who had already retired in Sweden last February. The Frenchman will try to get back in the game on a terrain he knows well: the Canary Islands Rally (April 24-27). “It’s a rally that I won in 2020 in ERC, I hope to have a very good rally there. We will try to prepare well for it, we will have the new specification [with the Hyundai version 2025] for this rally. We will give the best of ourselves to recover points this time and not be in Super Rally.
