Fourmaux wins at Monza in his last appearance with M-Sport

The Monza Rally Show was a great way to end several stories, Pirelli and the hybrid in Rally1 and the presence of Fourmaux/Coria at M-Sport

Although the weather was not on our side on the Lombardy circuit this Sunday, Pirelli was still able to celebrate the end of its role as the sole manufacturer in the WRC after 4 seasons. The three manufacturers had sent several representatives and although Kalle Rovanperä finally withdrew, the field was interesting with Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo at Hyundai, Adrien fourmaux M-Sport et Sébastien Ogier associated with Sami Pajari on the side of ToyotaEven though this trophy had only symbolic value, two clans opposed each other before the start of the debates.

With his Ford Puma Rally1, Adrien Fourmaux was the only one to have the hybrid and this amused the latter a lot while the Hyundai drivers grumbled. By projecting themselves beyond this simple event, the decision of Toyota and Hyundai to drive without the battery was rather intelligent, since it undoubtedly allowed them to collect some information. That M-Sport did not think of doing the same thing was surprising. The opportunities to evolve in racing conditions are so rare.

If the starting data were in favour of the French crew, they still had to achieve the best times to reach the final without touching a chicane or brushing against a wall. Faced in a duel with his future teammate Thierry Neuville, Adrien Fourmaux won, which allowed him and Alex to end their period at M-Sport on a very good note. For the technology that will no longer be in the cars from Monte-Carlo, it was also the last appearance... but it is not certain that many drivers will miss it... Finally, the entire Pirelli team that worked for 4 years in the world championship also said a vibrant goodbye to the WRC.
