The hybrid era in the World Rally Championship (WRC) of M-Sport Ford will open with Gus Greensmith in 2022. The Briton has been confirmed for the entirety of the next season aboard the new Ford Puma WRC.

The 24-year-old pilot thus joins Craig Breen in the team founded by Malcolm Wilson; the Irishman having in fact signed a two-year contract a few weeks ago. “I have been very pleased with my progress throughout 2021 and it means a lot to represent M-Sport in 2022, where it seems to me that the factory people have done a fantastic job to create a very competitive package”, claimed 3rd in WRC 2 Pro in 2019.

Ranked ninth in the championship before the final in Monza (Italy), Gus Greensmith won Rally from Kenya his best runner-up in the premier category (4th). Recently, the son of a founder of a petrochemical company led a turnover in the right-hand seat. In 2021, four co-drivers accompanied him on at least one round of the World Cup (Chris Patterson, Stuart Loudon, Elliott Edmondson and Jonas Andersson).

Malcolm Wilson is full of praise for this young driver.“He has impressed me a lot this year with the way he has grown and disciplined himself while improving his pace. Gus is becoming an important member of the team eI look forward to celebrating more success with him and the team next year. »

This new should not put Adrien fourmaux out of the game. The Frenchman, impressive for his debut at the wheel of a Rally1 in 2021, could very well recover the third and last hybrid Ford Puma built. On a complete or partial program? Discussions are underway with another Habs, un certain Sébastien Loeb, which conducted several test sessions on the sly this fall.
