Hyundai in the right tempo according to Michel Nandan

On a start to the season that is not very representative of the entire season WRC (including three very specific rallies: Monte-Carlo, Sweden and Mexico), the Hyundai i20, on the podium in Central America, is on the right track, and even ahead of the expectations of the staff of the Land of the Morning Calm.

“If we take into account the times when the car had no problems and compare the tire choices, then let's say we are between 0 and 1 per kilometer. Which is quite encouraging. declared Michel Nandan, Team Principal of the Korean team. We know we still have a lot of work to do to develop the car, both on the chassis and the engine, but I still think it's quite promising. From what we can see, we are not really far from VW or Citroën. And, in the muddiest sections, it was sometimes possible to compete with them. »

For the Frenchman, the major objective of the season remains the development of the i20 and not the absolute search for victory. “I think we are progressing quite well and we can obviously be satisfied with the results we have achieved so far. However, this will not change our objective, which is to progress and improve the car. In Portugal too we had problems, but we are here to have them and try to resolve them. For now, we are not going to focus on anything else. »

The next round of the 2014 World Championship will take place in Argentina from May 8 to 11, with the Spaniard Dani Sordo who will replace the Finn Juho Hänninen for the occasion on the second car entered alongside the Belgian Thierry Neuville.
