Hyundai appoints Dani Sordo for Sardinia

Cyril Abiteboul will he discover one of the traditions of WRC at the end of rally from Sardinia? The custom is that the members of the winning team all end up in the port after a spectacular dive.

Trois Hyundai i20 Hybrid Rally1 seront présentes à Olbia où est basée la manche italienne cette année (1-4 juin). Avec les inamovibles, Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi, Dani Sordo will be entrusted with the 3e auto. This is absolutely no surprise. In recent years, the Spaniard has traditionally worn the colors of the Korean manufacturer in Italy with some success since Dani won there twice, in 2019 and 2020. Depending on his result in Portugal, Sordo will benefit from a good position on the island's paths and he should try to take advantage of it.

If there is a strong chance that the 40-year-old Spaniard will then travel to Kenya where he has already been in 2021, the team has not yet given any indication about the driver who will compete in the rallies where he will not be retained. This concerns the fast races (Estonia, Finland) on which the talent of Craig Breen will be lacking and the mission of his replacement (Teemu Suninen? Andreas Mikkelsen? Kris Meeke?…) will not be simple.

The event includes 322,79 km timed divided into 19 special stages including one of 49,9 km that the competitors will have to complete twice on Friday.
