As the end of the WRC championship slowly approaches, the transfer market looks very calm. As for Toyota Gazoo Racing, the question that remains is what Sébastien Ogier will do.

Jari-Matti Latvala awaits Sébastien Ogier's decision

The off-season should not be too hectic in terms of driver movements from one team to another. Between the contracts already signed and the shortage of space, stability should be essential. The only question concerns the possible departure ofOtt Tänak from home Hyundai to join M-Sport.

« We are satisfied with our workforce, explained Jari-Matti Latvala in Ypres. Kalle Rovanperä and Elfyn Evans perform well and there is good communication between them. With three podiums already this season, Esapekka Lappi meets our expectations and there is no reason not to extend our collaboration into 2023. Whether he will be full-time, I cannot say today. We need to discuss with Sébastien Ogier to see with him what his wishes are for next year. I remain convinced that Sébastien is still very fast and that he will always be able to fight for victory. »

The Hautes-Alpes driver has often indicated that he would most likely be at the start of the 90e edition of Monte-Carlo (January 18-22), but he remains unclear regarding the direction he will give to his career. Will he try to find a seat in WEC in order to continue your learning? Can he come back full time in WRC after a less busy year? His chances of using the Toyota GR010 in racing appear limited for 2022. Can this change next year when the competition is expected to strengthen? Should Ogier consider leaving the Toyota Gazoo Racing to have an opportunity to evolve in the elite of the WEC? If he signed for another brand, it would undoubtedly have the effect of ending his collaboration with Toyota in the WRC. Jari-Matti Latvala would certainly offer a complete program to Lappi, while Takamoto Katsuta would be content to race in the same conditions as today. For his part, if Sébastien Ogier really wanted to continue having fun in the WRC, wouldn't a team without a leader currently be delighted to welcome him?
