Josh McErlean returns to Ireland for the Donegal International Rally

The M-Sport driver in the World Rally Championship will make a guest appearance on home soil next June, driving a Ford Fiesta Rally2. Kris Meeke is also expected to compete in this rally, one of the most important on the national calendar.

Josh McErlean returns to Ireland for the Donegal International Rally

The prodigy will soon be returning home. He is currently in Japan to compete in the seventh round of the World Rally Championship, M-Sport It has been announced that Irish driver Josh McErlean will be competing in the upcoming Donegal International Rally in Ireland, a round of the national asphalt championship. The event, taking place on June 19th, 20th, and 21st, will be the fifth round of the calendar and is historically one of the most anticipated events of the year there. Fans will certainly get their money's worth, as in addition to Josh McErlean, who will be driving a Ford Fiesta Rally2, the entry list, not yet officially released, is also expected to include Kris Meeke, the reigning Portuguese Rally Championship runner-up to Dani Sordo, in addition to his impressive international record.

M-Sport sends its protégés back across the Channel

This isn't the first time M-Sport has sent its players to national championships, especially in Great Britain. Back in 2023, for example, Adrien fourmaux Alexandre Coria and Josh McErlean had also participated in the British Rally Championship alongside their WRC2 season, a championship they won handily by taking all five rallies they entered. Josh McErlean's last appearance in a national event in Ireland, however, wasn't that long ago, dating back to 2025. The driver of the #55 Ford Puma Rally1 in the World Rally Championship won the Jeremy O'Connor Longford Arms Hotel Stages Rally in a Ford Fiesta Rally2, marking only his third appearance with Eoin Tracy as co-driver.
