Kalle Rovanperä set the best time in the 5.40 kilometer Shakedown of Safari Rally Kenya 2022. After winning in Sweden, Croatia, Portugal, the Finn dominated the first observation phase of the 6th round of the world championship rallies. It was during his second attempt that the leader of the ranking overtook Sébastien Loeb et Sébastien Ogier, both present in Kenya. “ It seems that the rally this year will be even more difficult than last year! I didn't expect to see conditions as harsh as we saw in reconnaissance – this year it seems to be much softer. It’s going to be demanding conditions for sure,” explained Kalle Rovanperä.

Behind his time in 3″42’1, we find Thierry Neuville and tied Sébastien Ogier and Ott Tanäk in 3″43'9. In the duel between the two Sébastiens, it was Loeb's Ford which won the first battle. The third Frenchman present in Kenya this week, Adrien fourmaux finished in 9th position in 3'46″9. As a reminder, the start of hostilities in Kenya is scheduled for 13h with, on the program, the Kasarani Super Special (4.84 km).
