Cruel end of Rally from Kenya for Takamoto Katsuta. The Japanese from Toyota, fifth in the general classification at the end of the event, was forced to abandon... after the last special!
The Japanese driver lost control of his Toyota GR Yaris, which rolled over and came to rest on its roof at the start of the 10,53-kilometre Hells Gate Power Stage, the final timed section of the Safari Rally, which was won by his teammate Elfyn Evans.
Then fourth, Takamoto Katsuta and his co-driver Aaron Johnston managed to get back on track and reach the finish at a slow pace. The duo had, however, lost a place to Sami Pajari.
Problem: the car was far too damaged to reach the rally's service park, located 60 kilometers further on in Naivasha. This resulted in a retirement and, above all, the loss of points for fifth place. Grégoire Munster (M-Sport) inherits this position in the final standings of the 2025 Rally Kenya.
