Kris Meeke: “Maybe a little less pressure”

Argentina sounded like a deliverance for Chris Meeke with a first career victory in WRC. With the primary desire not to make mistakes, the Citroën driver went through the many South American traps to come out on top.

A strategy that the 35-year-old driver wants to repeat in Portugal this weekend. “We will have to persevere and stick to our strategy. I don't set new goals for myself, it is above all necessary to be very regular and avoid mistakes. »

Meeke admits, however, that he still has work to do before he can rise to the forefront on all terrains, he who does not benefit from the same experience as his rivals. “With my first world championship victory, maybe I have a little less pressure. In Argentina, everything worked perfectly. I know we still have a lot to do to be competitive on all rallies, but this victory gives us confidence. In Portugal, the renewed course should help us erase our experience deficit. We'll see what this test has in store for us! »

Le Rally from Portugal, (see the program), will be followed live and in full on AUTOhebdo.fr this weekend.
