The FIA details its ideas for changes for the WRC in 2025

What's better today to be educational than a good video tutorial. This is what the FIA is trying to detail the modifications that could be made to Rally1 and Rally2 in the coming seasons. However, it is not certain that this “WRC for dummies” will succeed in convincing the manufacturers.

The FIA details its ideas for changes for the WRC in 2025

It was through social networks that the body decided to describe how the Rally1 and also the Rally2 will be modified from next year. The presentation video actually explains that the cars in the premier category (the blue one in the animation) will lose the hybrid unit, receive a reduced intake flange and accommodate a small wing. The vehicle being a hundred kilos lighter, this should allow it to remain fast and spectacular, despite the disappearance of the boost.

On the 2e car which appears in the image and which strangely resembles a Skoda (a call to the foot?), the transformations are also indicated. The kit which should be added to the Rally2 includes a larger air intake flange and a much more imposing wing than the current one. The video, however, forgets the paddle shift (steering wheel gear change system) which had also been announced.

For those who discover the rally, these explanations will undoubtedly be very useful, even if the distinction between Rally1 and 2 is not obvious. If the target was manufacturers, it is not certain that it would have an effect. The three teams did not show intense joy at the announcement of these ideas, M-Sport et Toyota wondering about the timing imagined to introduce these new frames. Will the simplicity of their creation stated in the video have convinced Richard Millener and Jari-Matti Latvala?
