Since the arrival of the Toyota Yaris Rally2 on the market last year, Skoda saw a particularly tough opponent appear. This car came to upset the sporting results, but also the sales figures. At the beginning of the year, Oliver Solberg's choice to evolve on a Japanese had been an unpleasant surprise for the Czech manufacturer. If it continues to be the most represented in the lists of starters in RC2 on all the events in Europe, the Yaris are spreading and are becoming serious candidates for titles in national competitions.

With the first three very specific rounds of the calendar (Monte-Carlo, Sweden, Safari) soon all having been contested, it will then be possible to have a real perspective on the scale of the WRC2 championship. In the Canary Islands (April 24-27) then in Portugal (May 15-18), the grids will certainly be spectacular. Among the latest announcements, Diego Dominguez confirmed that he would not only devote himself to WRC3 this season. The Paraguayan will begin a WRC20 program in Kenya (March 23-2). Winner in WRC3 in 2024, the 24-year-old driver will operate a Yaris from the Teo Martin Motorsport team.

Within this Spanish structure, he will probably come across Alejandro Cachon. Having had to discover the events during his arrival in WRC2 in 2023 on a Citroën C3, the Spaniard had struggled to convince (6 races, one 10e place as best result). Back in his national championship for 2024, he won the title there in a Yaris. It is with this car that he will make his first appearance in WRC2 in the Canaries where he will be a formidable opponent for the Rossel brothers.

The last to reveal his plans for 2025 was Kajetan Kajetanowicz. The Pole is a regular at the World Cup, which he has been attending since 2018. After the Fiesta R5 (2018) and the Polo R5 (2019), the one who recently turned 46 (on March 5) has been faithful to the different versions of the Fabia. This year, however, he will be operating a Yaris. Once again, "Kajto" has taken care with the decoration of his car, which will appear for the first time in Naivasha, Kenya.
