For several years, the grids in the premier class have become very thin. The elimination of the hybrid has not brought the radical changes that were fantasized by the most optimistic. The regulations that will come into force in 2027 are known, but so far the players already involved have still not affirmed their involvement and there are serious doubts about the presence of Hyundai from 2026 and especially beyond. Even more worrying, no new manufacturer has planned to make its arrival in the discipline on this date. Recently, the relations between the FIA and the competitors in Rally1 and Rally2 have become execrable with the introduction of very restrictive communication rules towards the crews. They are now subject to very strict monitoring of their words under penalty of taking penalties and even losing points in the event of a repeat offense. While the situation already seemed very anxiety-provoking, an additional event has confirmed that the WRC is in poor shape.

On February 10, P1 Fuels, the company that was the sole supplier of fuel for the championship, was placed under administrative control due to financial concerns. These concerns included preventing it from paying customs duties in Kenya… So that the crews could benefit from fuel for this 3e round of the season, the FIA had to intervene to ensure supplies were made.

The German firm, which specializes in fuel decarbonization, won the tender in 2022. This "green" fuel was the element displayed in the WRC window to prove its modernity. It was highlighted as compensation for the disappearance of the hybrid system. It will be important for the competitors that the gasoline that will be used in the remaining races remains the same for the rest of the championship, because the teams have worked to adapt to that provided by P1.
