His name doesn't mean much to followers of the World Rally Championship. Josh McErlean is going to become a driver of WRC when Rally Monte Carlo after a discreet run in the lower categories. Supported by the Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy, the Irishman has a chance to prove himself over a full season, while Latvian Mārtiņš Sesks, sparkling on his debut in 2024, will once again have to make do with stints.
As his debut in the premier rally category approaches, Josh McErlean was able to test his Ford Puma Rally1 and has clearly already been won over by his new ride. “It was a fantastic two days of testing”, rejoices the 25-year-old pilot. “We learned a lot from Grégoire (Munster) and the team, they were very supportive and welcoming, which made the process of getting to grips with the Rally1 car easier.”

“Be consistent and progress”
“The test itself was fantastic: these cars are incredible, the downforce and grip they create is phenomenal! We drove on snow and in dry conditions, which made our first experience in the car very productive.” he continues. " Lining up in the Casino Square will be a special moment for me on Thursday. It’s a moment I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid, so I just want to enjoy it and take it in. We’re in a very privileged position and I just want to do the best job I can for everyone involved, be consistent and improve throughout the event.”
M-Sport will count on a particularly inexperienced line-up this season. Grégoire Munster finds himself propelled to team leader after the departure ofAdrien fourmaux in HyundaiThe Luxembourger will have to assume this role by carrying the team after a not very convincing start in 2024. Added to the stints of Jourdan Serderidis and Mārtiņš Sesks, the British team will try to beat its total from last year by climbing on more than five podiums, all obtained by Adrien Fourmaux in 2024.
