The belly in WRC did not happen. The list of questions was so long at the start of Monte-Carlo that the event could not provide all the answers. There is still a trend emerging and it is going in the right direction. For those opposed to this technology, it is a defeat. They predicted (hoped?) that it was going to be a disaster. The reality was quite different. The “Public” zones which have been set up for several years at the World Cup do not allow us to assert that the event was a popular success. Indeed, spectators are forced to concentrate on places that are not prohibited, which gives the impression that there are a lot of people even though many kilometers are completely empty. Nevertheless, the reception of this new generation of cars was positive and this sometimes gave images of quite joyful celebrations, like at the top of the Col Saint-Roch, on Thursday evening, where it was almost daylight with the lights wood and smoke bombs. On the side of the roads, it is obvious that the difference with the 2017 WRCs was not immediately obvious. Doubt existed. Ott Tänak hadn't he outright said that it could be that Rally2s were ahead on the timesheets? For the premiere of this WRC2, the level was raised with three Frenchmen (Camilli, Rossel and Lefebvre) chasing the Norwegian troll, Andreas Mikkelsen.
