The Iron Dames program in rally reaches a new milestone. The 100% female team announced on Tuesday the participation of Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard in the WRC2 championship next year. An incredible promotion for the French duo after a successful season in the French Rally Championship (5th place overall, French Rally Champion) for their first year in the Iron Dames colours.

In 2025, Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard will compete in seven rounds of the world championship for the WRC2 category, starting with the legendary Rallye Monte-Carlo (January 23-26). The Iron Dames will then travel to Portugal (May 15-18), Sardinia (June 5-8), Greece (June 26-29), Finland (July 31 – August 3), Central Europe (October 16-19) and will end their WRC2 season on the new Rally Saudi Arabia (November 27-30). Unlike in 2024, the two Frenchwomen will not take on this new challenge with a Ford Fiesta Rally2, but with a Citroën C3 Rally2. The project has once again been entrusted to Sarrazin Motorsport, which will be responsible for operating the French car.

The Iron Dames in the footsteps of Michèle Mouton

An unprecedented and historic program for the Iron Dames: this is the first time since Michèle Mouton and Fabrizia Pons, in the 1980s with Audi, that an all-female crew has taken part in a world rally championship. “2024 was a learning year, we progressed both on gravel and asphalt. We finished the season in fifth place on asphalt and sixth on gravel. With a lot of competition, we managed to close the gaps and that’s really positive.”, rejoices Sarah Rumeau.

“Throughout the year, we received a lot of advice from the Sarrazin Motorsport team, which allowed us to progress a lot. I can never thank Deborah [Mayer] and the entire Iron Dames team enough for the trust they have shown in us. We have had an extraordinary year in the field of four-wheel drive, surrounded by people who support us in the best possible way. This gives us a lot of strength to continue giving the best of ourselves. Now we look towards 2025 with Citroën Racing and a new step forward at international level. It is a dream that continues with the whole team, and I am very proud of it.”

Alongside this commitment in WRC2, Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard will also compete in the two French rally championships (Gravel and Asphalt), when the events do not conflict with the WRCIn total, the two teammates should be competing in 19 events in 2025!

In addition to the Iron Dames, Iron Lynx will also enter a Citroën C3 Rally2 in WRC2 with Pablo Sarrazin and his co-driver Geoffrey Combe. At 19, Stéphane Sarrazin's son will compete in the world championship for the first time in his career, in addition to the two French championships. Réhane Gany and Franck Le Floch will be competing in the French Asphalt Rally Championship.
