Malcolm Wilson aims for “four more rallies” with Sébastien Loeb

Enter Sébastien Loeb et M-Sport, l’idylle pourrait continuer ! Partie sur de très bonnes bases, with the victory of the Alsatian at the Monte-Carlo Rally, the collaboration of the nine-time world champion WRC with the English team could continue. In any case, this is the wish of Malcolm Wilson, boss of M-Sport. In an interview with the official website of the World Rally Championship, Wilson spoke highly of Sébastien Loeb and hopes to secure his services for “four more rallies” this season.

Without revealing the identity of the rounds in which Sébastien Loeb could participate at the wheel of the Ford Puma Rally1. “ We're aiming for four more rallies, and that's all I can say, said Malcolm Wilson. This is something we are working on. Obviously, the rally from Sweden (February 24-27) is not on the program and Sébastien told me no for Croatia (April 21-24). But what is certain is that we can't wait to see Sébastien and Isabelle again (Galmiche, his co-pilot. Editor’s note) with us again.«

Malcolm Wilson's impatience is completely understandable. During the opening round of the Monte-Carlo rally, Sébastien Loeb showed that he had lost none of his speed and steering skills, even at the age of 47 and for his first race at the wheel of the Puma Rally1 hybrid. “ What Séb achieved in Monte-Carlo is really, really impressive, enthuses Malcolm Wilson. And when you think about it, it's even more so. He hadn't competed in a round in over a year, he was coming back from the Dakar Rally without really having had much time with the car, and he was with a co-driver with whom he had never raced at that time. level (…) He is someone very special.«

By writing off the next two world rounds (Sweden and Croatia), could Sébastien Loeb return for the 4th event of the 2022 season, in Portugal (May 19-22)? Time will tell, but everything suggests that Malcolm Wilson would be very supportive…
