Martins Sesks at Serras de Fafe before Portugal

In order to put all the chances on his side to perform well in the next Rally of Portugal (15-18 May), the Latvian will be at the start of the Rali Serras de Fafe at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta Rally2 of the Past Racing team. Expected with relish in Sweden, Martins Sesks was disappointing there. He never managed to dynamite the group of Yaris and i20s, even being overtaken by his teammates who should normally have been less comfortable than him on the ice. The 25-year-old Latvian lacked knowledge of the terrain and this undoubtedly calmed his hard-liners, he who especially wanted to complete this 1^er see you in 2025 without a hitch. His performance in Portugal should be of a different caliber.

The pilot M-Sport already knows this event having won the Junior category in 2021. Since the special stages are almost always the same year after year, he will not be disoriented. This is all the more true since part of the route uses the times of the Rali Serras de Fafe where he has participated 2 times (2022 and 2023). He will be able to further refine his knowledge of these kilometers since he is registered at the start of the next edition (March 7-8). The event will mark the opening of the Portuguese championship in which Kris Meeke (Toyota) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai) are entered. For Sesks, it will probably be difficult to keep up the pace given that he will have a Ford Fiesta Rally2.

For him, it will be his 2^e experience with this car that he had already used last year in Ciudad de Granada (2^e) to prepare for the trip to Chile. The idea of going down a category is not necessarily a good one because the differences in behaviour between the Rally2 and the Puma Rally1 are enormous, but in terms of benchmarks and knowledge of the terrain, it should be very useful. Associated with Ralfs Igavens, since Renars Francis his usual co-driver had made other commitments, Sesks will have 11 special stages and 113,13 timed kilometres on gravel to get to grips with Portugal and then make his mark in May.
