Rally Poland

Ranking Rally from Poland:

  • To say that at the start of the week, Kalle Rovanperä and Janne Halttunen (Toyota) thought they were having a vacation weekend! It was before Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais do not withdraw due to an accident during reconnaissance. A few days later, the two-time reigning world champions won the Rally Poland.
  • Toyota secures the double thanks to second place taken by Elfyn Evans. The Welshman was slowed down on Saturday following a loose tire.
  • At M-Sport Ford, we are once again relying on the talent ofAdrien fourmaux and Alexandre Coria. The French duo climbs to the 3rd step of the podium; This is their third podium of the season after Sweden and Kenya at the start of the year.
  • Latvian rookie Martins Sesks (M-Sport Ford) made a clear debut aboard the Ford Puma Rally1 (without hybrid system). The vice-champion ERC 2023 finished 5th without panicking while his more experienced rivals picked up the pace during the rally.
  • He was involved in the fight for victory until the start of the last stage. The experienced Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) was trapped by trying to put pressure on Rovanperä by hitting the side. With a flat right rear tire, bruised bodywork and a broken hybrid system, the Norwegian finished the Rally Poland pitifully in 6th place. Grégoire Munster (M-Sport Ford) and Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) finished 7th and 8th.
  • In WRC2, success went to Sami Pajari (Toyota). The Finn collects a second victory in a row after Sardinia. The first Frenchman, Pierre-Louis Loubet (Skoda), is 6th.

The next round will take place in Latvia, from July 18 to 21.

15:15 p.m.: 🏆 And that's it, Kalle Rovanperä wins the Polish Rally ahead of Elfyn Evans and Adrien Fourmaux!

15h08: Thierry Neuville narrowly takes the best time Ott Tänak ! But the Belgian is not smiling, he who was slowed down by his position as opener at the start of the event. “ To be honest, it's been an extremely disappointing weekend for us. We knew before the start that it would be hard, but we were very motivated. I want to thank the team for the reliability of the car and their work. »

15h03: Martins Sesks secures his 5th place overall for his debut in the premier category! “It’s going to take me a little while to realize it, I really had fun!” I lost my front blade in this special, it's a good thing for learning to drive the Ford, it was really difficult. »

15 h : Andreas Mikkelsen finished 19 seconds behind Tänak. “ It's a very positive weekend for us. I had a lot of fun! What happened this morning with the tire is sad, we were unlucky. The best thing to do was to calmly reach the finish and allow Thierry (Neuville) and Ott (Tänak) to aim for the Power Stage points. »

14h50: Takamoto Katsuta does not steal the best time in Tänak. The Japanese missed a turn and lost time. “I had no rhythm this weekend. We must find the reason before the next round. »

14h45: Ott Tänak finished strong, seeking to set the best time. “We did everything we could today. It's a real shame not to have been able to influence the rally rankings. I had the pace to fight for victory. »

14h30: Sami Pajari wins WRC2 and gets closer to leader Yohan Rossel in the championship!

14h : ✅ Finnish Sami Pajari (Toyota) opens this special.

14h08: Here is the starting order for the Power Stage. As usual, this is the reverse order of the rally standings, starting with WRC2, followed by Rally1 Hybrid.

Rally Poland standings, SS18:

General classification :

Although he may comfortably lead the 2024 Rally Poland, Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) wants to win in style. The Finn beat Ott Tänak (Hyundai) to the best time of this penultimate Sunday special by a few tenths.

Victim of a problem with the hybrid system and a damaged car after his puncture in SS17, Andreas Mikkelsen lost a place in the general classification to the benefit of rookie Martins Sesks (M-Sport Ford).

The Power Stage will begin at 14 p.m.

12h53: 🛠 Andreas Mikkelsen suffers a hybrid system failure! The Hyundai lost 40 seconds to Tänak in this special and was overtaken by Martins Sesks overall. “It's far from perfect, but we just want to see the finish. It’s a Sunday stroll! I'm not really having fun this morning. I can't wait for it to end to be honest. »

12h46: Great stage at Fourmaux, which ends 1″4 behind Tänak! “We will make sure to pick up some points in the Power Stage. I pushed hard in this special, I think I made two mistakes but I was focused. I live my rally one special stage after another. »

12h43: News from Martins Sesks. The Latvian rookie lost around ten seconds on Tänak in this special but continued his good performance to vie for 6th place overall.

12h38: Thierry Neuville still cannot ride faster than his teammate Tänak. The Belgian finished 5″2 behind. “We changed a few settings and I feel more comfortable. »

12h26: Let's go for the penultimate special. Ott Tänak once again sets a very high pace to set the best time.

11h57: ▶️ We are at the heart of the action with Adrien Fourmaux who is preparing before aiming for 3rd place in this race.

ES17

Rally Poland standings, SS17:

General classification :

Sunday ranking:

Ott Tänak easily won this special. Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) controls his lead at the head of the event. The ranking remains almost identical to the previous special, except that Andreas Mikkelsen lets his teammate Thierry Neuville slip into 4th position.

“I drive slowly, Mikkelsen said. We just need to get the car to the finish, given what happened earlier this morning. We were unlucky when we hit a curb, like Elfyn Evans did on Saturday. »

The SS18, Mrągowo Commune 2 – 20,80 km, is scheduled for 12:20 p.m.

10:34 a.m.: 🗣 Adrien Fourmaux finishes on the heels of Ott Tänak. He preserves his 3rd place overall. “We tried to be gentle on the tires because the surface is quite abrasive. I'm happy with my time, at first I struggled but I got into the rhythm after that. It's a great Sunday! »

10h : 🗣 On a special which will serve as a Power Stage from 14 p.m., Thierry Neuville fails 9 tenths behind Ott Tänak. " I did my best. It's a challenge when you have to sweep the road on Friday, it's hard to work on the car settings. We will have to work on a lot of subjects for the next round, because the situation will calm down. »

10h13: The special begins with Ott Tänak firing on all cylinders. His objective is to win the Sunday stage in order to limit the damage to the championship, he who gave up on Saturday afternoon.

ES16

10h : 💥 He was 4th in WRC2 last night, but Irishman Josh McErlean will not go further than SS16 this morning after an accident in the last corner of the special!

ES16 ranking:

Rally Poland 2024 standings after SS16:

Is Rally Poland already over? Then 2nd, a handful of seconds behind leader Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) on the evening of the 2nd stage, Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) lost almost a minute following a puncture to the right rear wheel. The Norwegian falls off the provisional podium!

« We hit the side of the road and it came off a wheel. We were trying to put pressure on Kalle to keep his pace, but that's part of the game. Now it doesn't matter, we just have to make sure we reach the finish. »

Kalle Rovanperä is now comfortable leader with 3 stages remaining. Elfyn Evans (Toyota) moved into 2nd ahead of Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux (M-Sport Ford). Latvian rookie Martins Sesks (M-Sport Ford) loses a place to Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The best time was set by Ott Tänak (Hyundai) who rode without any pressure for a result in the general classification (he did not finish Saturday's stage).

In WRC2, 2nd place is now held by Robert Virves (Skoda) ahead of Oliver Solberg (Skoda). Frenchman Pierre-Louis Loubet (Skoda) also gained a position and finds himself 4th.

SS17, Mikołajki – 11,20 km, is scheduled for 10:05 a.m.

9h38: 🗣 Andreas Mikkelsen is now 4th overall. “ We hit the side of the road and it came off a wheel. We were trying to put pressure on Kalle to keep his pace, but that's part of the game. Now it doesn't matter, we just have to make sure we reach the finish. »

9h34: 💥 Big disappointment for Andreas Mikkelsen, who has just died! The Hyundai drives slower. The Norwegian falls in the rankings! Adrien Fourmaux (M-Sport Ford) took the opportunity to move up to 3rd, and Elfyn Evans (Toyota) is now 2nd!

9h : We offer you the tire choices for this morning. Mikkelsen took a hard tire unlike Rovanperä, who only relied on softs to attack!

9h27: 🗣 It was expected, Martins Sesks (Ford) lost his 5th place in the general classification to Thierry Neuville at the end of this ES. The Latvian rookie still had a remarkable event even though he has no experience of Rally1! “It was very slippery. We remained calm, there is no point in panicking. The aim of this passage was to properly gauge the level of grip. Everything is fine. »

9h24: 🗣 Ott Tänak put the turbo on. Nobody seems able to beat him, not even his teammate Thierry Neuville, relegated to 12 seconds! “I follow my own pace, I can't do more at the moment. »

9h19: In addition to the uncertainty regarding the winner of the rally, the prospect of stopped special(s) remains a hot topic in Poland. The spectators were very undisciplined on Friday and Saturday. Our special correspondent met Michèle Mouton, the former rally champion, to explain this context to us. An article to read here.

9h10: ✅ The special started with Ott Tänak (Hyundai). The 2019 world champion preferred to give up during Saturday's stage to better prepare for Sunday. The Estonian was no longer in contention to score points after an encounter with a deer.

9h : Here is the starting order for the morning.
