“I promised you a full year 2021, here are the details,” began Andreas Mikkelsen. The Norwegian driver chose to unveil his 2021 program on his YouTube channel on Sunday.
He confirmed a full program in WRC2, which will be accompanied by the full season in the European Rally Championship (ERC), all with the Skoda Fabia Rally 2. The ex driver Hyundai en WRC will also develop the new Skoda which is due to debut in competition in 2022.
“I'm going to have a big role at Skoda this year, I'm going to sit in a car every weekend. The goal is to be the fastest R5 at each rally, I have the car to do that. I think we will be ready, I feel very confident. »
Back off to better blow up ? Mikkelsen played eight consecutive seasons in the WRC with Volkswagen then Hyundai before having a white season in 2020. This season, we saw him in ERC and WRC3 during the Monza Rally.
At 31, he still hopes to return to the premier category. “I hope to do a few rounds with a World Rally Car this season, I'm working on it. And above all I tell myself that a complete double program with Skoda can serve as a springboard for me to be completely back in 2022,” he concludes.
