And if a three-way battle will animate the end of this Rally Monte-Carlo 2025? That's the trend at the end of the morning loop on Saturday. Leader at the start, Sébastien Ogier is still after the first three special stages of the day. But the Gapençais does not really have any margin for error since the competitors behind him are honking.
To start with Adrien fourmaux, author of a very solid morning loop. If there was no scratch for the Northerner, he showed himself to be applied to stay in the Top 3, and above all well placed, ready to seize the slightest opportunity. Starting third this Saturday morning, the pilot Hyundai returned to the service park in second position, “only” 17 seconds behind his compatriot.
Elfyn Evans meanwhile lost some ground in the last two stages of the morning but remains in ambush. The Welshman is hanging on to the general classification, third at 20 seconds behind Sébastien Ogier. Kalle Rovanperä and Ott Tänak complete the Top 5 overall in this 2025 Monte-Carlo Rally. The Finn and the Estonian are engaged in a close battle with only one second separating them, to the advantage of the double world champion.
To Thierry Neuville, things didn't get any better. Relegated to almost 4 minutes before the start of the loop after his misadventures the day before, the reigning world champion started his Saturday on the wrong foot. Indeed, the Belgian encountered technical problems with his Hyundai i20 from the first few meters! This forced him to stop on the road and reset his car. While this manipulation visibly allowed him to set off again as if nothing had happened, Neuville still lost more than a minute. It was only at the end of the loop that he was able to find his rhythm again after having spent the first two special stages with difficulty.
« This is the first special I was able to enjoy this weekend, to be honest., he said at the end of SS12. I felt better in the car, we made some changes. I had a bit more traction, but we couldn't be too confident either.. » Here he is more than 5 minutes behind Sébastien Ogier.
This morning was marked by the beautiful story of Grégoire Munster who won the first special victory of his career in WRCThe Luxembourger was indeed the fastest during the first SS of the day (SS10), beating the rally leader by 8 tenths.
