Among the many questions that arose initially, there was that concerning Hyundai. The decision to get involved in the WRC hybrid for three years was only taken in March 2021 by the management of the Korean manufacturer, while M-Sport et Toyota had dived nine months earlier. How had the team managed to use the little time they had to develop a car, fine-tune it and make it reliable? If the team had continued to move forward in certain areas by telling itself that “yes” would prevail, the production of this Rally1 only really accelerated recently and experienced two other penalizing events.
