Neuville recovered well in Monte-Carlo

Thierry Neuville could have been in the lead Rally Monte-Carlo this evening, but the vice-world champion lost around twenty seconds in SS6 after taking an exit lane at high speed. The pilot Hyundai recovered well afterwards, his scratch in the last special of the day allowing him to come back to just 2 seconds behind the leader Sébastien Ogier (Citroen).

" What a day !, exclaims the Belgian. We had a good morning. The first special was cancelled, but we made the right choice with the tires and we were able to make up time. Everything worked fine. I was happy with my driving, the notes were very good and I felt confident in the car. Tire choice was key throughout the day, as you would expect on this rally. »

“The beginning of the afternoon did not go as planned. We approached a corner too quickly and had to use the escape route. We lost about 19 seconds, which was frustrating because that mistake cost us a chance to keep the lead, recognizes the Belgian. We continued to attack hard and we finished the day with a scratch which allowed us to reduce our delay on Ogier. It’s clearly going to be an exciting rally. There is still room for improvement. »
