As a prelude to Monte-Carlo, you said that you would take stock after Croatia in April, and finally there is this trip to Kenya. What happened ?

We had this in mind, but we had to move forward step by step. With the 2C team, we looked for solutions to successfully go to Kenya. It's not simple at all. There are particularly big problems with sea freight, but the operation will be able to be carried out and I am very happy about it.

What does Kenya inspire you?

If I went to argue a rally in Chile in 2022 (7e of the Rally del Biobio. Editor's note), this will be my very first participation in a world event outside Europe. There is bound to be a lot of excitement about what we are going to experience for the first time.

What do you know about the course and the specificities of this round?

I have not yet studied the breakdown in detail, but it seems to me that there are some changes compared to 2023. According to the information that I was able to obtain from pilots who have already competed in the Safari, it appears that it’s very tough terrain for the Rally2s. We will have to adopt a different pace than the one we are used to developing in Europe. I don't know if it will be fun or not, but I'm certainly excited about this participation.

Are you going to do any specific preparation?

The 2C team advised us to try riding an SSV. It's something I've never done before. We have also scheduled a test day in Fontjoncouse. The ambition will be to find the ideal pace.

Do you already have an idea of your goal in Kenya?

I have a feeling it will be more of a race of survival than pure speed. I'll see if this is the kind of process that suits me or not. After our 4e place in WRC2 at Monte-Carlo, our goal will be to finish the event because I think the number of competitors will not be large and it should therefore be possible to score points.
