Ogier: “Limit the time lost with sweeping”

Sébastien Ogier will have to open the road again in the first stage of the Rally of Poland contested this week due to its status as leader of the Championship where it is 18 points ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), his closest pursuer.

The pilot M-Sport n’a pu s’imposer qu’à deux reprises cette année, au Monte-Carlo et au Portugal, en raison notamment de la perte de temps subie par sa position sur la route. Le quadruple champion du WRC will still be keen to achieve a good result in an event where he has won twice (in 2014 and 2015 with Volkswagen).

“The Polish Rally is an event that every driver looks forward to, explains Sébastien Ogier. The pace is incredible and the fast roads give you an adrenaline rush that will be enhanced by the new cars this year. »

“I have good memories of Rally Poland for winning twice, but this year will certainly be the worst edition for me due to the sweep, warns Sébastien Ogier. It's a dream situation to be leading the Championship at this stage of the season, but we will be at a disadvantage this Friday if the weather remains dry and we will have to work hard to limit the time lost with the sweep. »

“Our priority will be to maintain the lead in the Championship and it would be a good weekend if we could increase our lead”, concludes Sébastien Ogier.

M-Sport drivers prepared for Rally Poland by carrying out a test session in Estonia.
