Ogier: “We shouldn’t think too much about titles”

Sébastien Ogier could well be crowned this weekend at Wales Rally GB. Although the Frenchman has only two victories this year, his consistency has allowed him to have a good lead in the Championship with two rounds remaining in the season.

The French driver is 37 points ahead of his teammate Ott Tänak, second in the Championship for one unit ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) who gave up during the last stage of the Rally of Catalonia.

“Wales Rally GB is a flagship event on the calendar, comments Sébastien Ogier. It's a round that everyone wants to win and we intend to be in contention for victory. It's one of the toughest rallies on the calendar and it's a real feat to assess grip levels in the forests. I must admit that I nevertheless feel at home there. »

Sébastien Ogier has indeed shown great skills on the special stages in Wales since he has won the last four editions. He would become the record holder for victories in this event if he wins this Sunday. A new victory would also ensure him a fifth world title. He could also fold the Championship by taking second place and winning the Power Stage (the 18km Brening SS6,43 broadcast live this Sunday from 13:18 p.m. on L'Équipe). M-Sport also has a high probability of securing the Builders title.

“It could be a special event for the team and we have our first chance to win the title among the Drivers. We shouldn't think too much about the titles because we have to stay focused and enjoy the rally by offering the best performances", insists Sébastien Ogier.

Wales Rally GB begins this Thursday at 20 p.m. with the 1,49km Visit Conwy Tir Prince super special. the event will be followed live with our live text.
