Ogier: “We can be satisfied so far”

Sébastien Ogier is heading towards a fourth victory in Rally du Mexique. Avant la dernière étape comportant trois spéciales, le pilote M-Sport possède plus d’une demi-minute d’avance sur la Citroën C3 WRC by Kris Meeke.

The five-time WRC champion took advantage of the misfortunes of his opponents, Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai), qui ont tous les deux crevé dans le second passage de Guanajuatito (ES14). Mais le pilote de la Ford Fiesta WRC a construit sa réussite en alignant une série de scratchs lors de la deuxième journée.

“Our position on the road was a little better (yesterday) morning and there was no more sweeping in the afternoon. This is where I was able to make the difference, explained the new leader of the Rally of Mexico. We wanted to attack and I was on the limit most of the time, but I felt good in the car. »

“We didn't always do perfect stages, but I was very satisfied with my morning where I only made a few small errors, especially in SS12 and SS13 where my driving was almost perfect, added the M-Sport driver. It was a little more complicated in the afternoon. The road remained very slippery and it was very hot in the passenger compartment. The temperatures also took a toll on the engine and brakes. It wasn't an easy passage, but we can be satisfied so far. »

Following the definitive retirement of Elfyn Evans, only Teemu Suninen also remains in the race for M-Sport among the WRCs. The Finn who returned to Rally 2 moved up to 13th place.

The final stage of Rally Mexico is scheduled to start at 15:18 p.m. The end of the event will be followed live with our live text.
