Ogier king of Monte-Carlo: “I repeat it every year, but it’s my rally! »

The king of Monte-Carlo finds his throne alone. Sébastien Ogier won his 9th Rally Monte-Carlo in his career (8x in WRC, 1x in IRC) and thus overtakes Sébastien Loeb on the winners list of the event alpine. The Gapençais, second in 2022 last year at the end of a disaster scenario, rectified the situation this year: 9 special victories out of the 18 contested. The Frenchman never gave up control of the rally, having been in the lead since SS1.

Ultra-dominant and never worried, neither by the conditions, nor by the rise of Kalle Rovanperä, Sébastien Ogier savors his 9th crown in Monte-Carlo." It is enormous ! I repeat it every year, but it's my rally, it's the one that made me dream, declared the eight-time world rally champion. It was a perfect weekend! (…) We have to appreciate these moments, that’s why we are here, to try to achieve victories like this. And sometimes, winning rallies like Monte-Carlo is priceless! »

A first for Vincent Landais

A 56th victory for Sébastien Ogier in the WRC but also a first success for his co-driver Vincent Landais. The Nancy native, former co-driver of Pierre-Louis Loubet, won his first rally in the world championship. A success that Sébastien Ogier did not forget to remember. “For me, it's the 9th in Monte-Carlo but for him, it's the first in the world! And honestly, he deserves it, underlined the winner of the day. He did a great job this weekend and already last year in Japan. Things work really well between us in the car. »

Débuts de rêve pour Ogier et Landais, mais aussi pour Toyota, qui a impressionné ce week-end avec un doublé et 16 victoires de spéciales sur 18. “The car was top notch, well done to the whole team. We are starting the season with a bang. It bodes well for the team, a Toyota double here”, thanked the Frenchman, who maintained the vagueness regarding the continuation of his WRC program with the Japanese brand.
