Already seen in the Hyundai i20 coupe WRC during the Arctic Rally Finland at the start of the year, Oliver Solberg will make his return to the Korean brand's Rally1 during the Safari Rally (June 25-27).

The son of Petter Solberg will replace the Frenchman Pierre-Louis Loubet on the car operated by 2C Compétition, as indicated by the official website of the event.

“As always, I want to send a very big thank you to Andrea (Adamo), Alain (Penasse) and the whole team for making this possible, Solberg points out.

The i20 Coupe WRC is an incredible car. This is how she won the world championship for the last two years. Now I'm going to drive it for three days on some of the most incredible roads in one of the most famous rallies in the world. I am impatient. »

Oliver Solberg is competing in the Rally di Alba on asphalt this weekend at the wheel of the i20 Coupe WRC and will start on gravel at the Safari in this car.

For his part, Pierre-Louis Loubet explained the situation. “After discussions with my partners after Sardinia, we decided to skip the Safari and take the time to analyze what has not worked since the start of the season. All this with the sole aim of coming back stronger. »
