Ott Tänak: “We were very lucky with the weather”

Given your second position in the starting order, did you expect to lead the race tonight?

We were very lucky with the weather today. Without the rain it would have been a different story. It is enough to see the gaps widened by Sébastien Ogier in a single special on the dry during the 2^e loop (ES5, Editor’s note). It took us almost 20 seconds. If everything had been like that, we would not have been able to do anything and rally would have been quickly folded.  

Did you seem to be fighting less with the car than in previous rounds?

It's true that it wasn't too bad today. However, once again we had help from the conditions. Without this, I would certainly have had great difficulty finding confidence. It varied so much that it was not easy to get the perfect rhythm.

Tomorrow, the weather looks particularly complicated with a lot of water. What can we expect in the stages?

I know absolutely nothing about it. Today we had some rain, but it seems like it was nothing compared to what is forecast. With what we had this afternoon we could already see that it is not simple, so Saturday promises to be even more selective.
