New year, new skin. As the third round of the season has just ended, WRC In Kenya, Skoda unveiled its “Packet 25”, a set of developments that concern different parts of the Fabia RS Rally2, ranging from the engine to the shock absorbers, including the durability of certain components and even on-board comfort.
The Czech manufacturer also specifies that these developments " are obviously available for models already in circulation ».
Total engine optimization
The main evolution of this “Packet 25” kit concerns the engine, its power and the throttle response. We focused on optimizing gas exchange in the engine, refining fuel mixture preparation and improving combustion efficiency, resulting in increased power., explains Lukáš Růsek, engine engineer, explaining that the energy required for cylinder flushing has been reduced by 27%. We achieved this by modifying the exhaust system, including redesigning the exhaust manifold. »
With this optimization in mind, Skoda has revised the engine control software and lightened the exhaust manifold. Regarding the shock absorbers, the manufacturer has brought new features for dirt use with more durable components that maintain the same weight. In addition, the drive shafts and braking systems have been reinforced for greater durability. Overall, these improvements contribute to reducing the operating costs of the Fabia RS Rally2 equipped with the "Packet 25".
Finally, the new roof air intake improves ventilation while preventing water from entering the cabin. Skoda also offers bucket seats that are two kilos lighter, which lowers the car's center of gravity.
