No shakedown or night special at Monte-Carlo 2021

The 2021 season has not started yet sporting events are already under threat from the coronavirus. THE Rally Monte-Carlo, which is to open the World Rally Championship (WRC) from January 21 to 24, changed its itinerary, a few days after thecancellation of Rally Sweden.

The shakedown, planned near Gap (Hautes-Alpes) on Thursday February 21 in the morning, will not take place. In addition, the pair of night specials, traditionally organized on Thursday evenings since the mid-2010s, are brought forward to the end of the afternoon, in order to avoid any possible curfew.

Thus, the departure ofSS1 (Saint-Disdier-Corps) will take place at 16:38 p.m. while the special between Saint-Maurice and Saint-Bonnet will start at 17:36 p.m. On Friday, the Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM) makes no changes, unlike on Saturday.

Indeed, the competitors will only pass once in the special linking Saint-Clément to Freissinières, while theES from Saint-Apollinaire to Embrun is purely and simply deleted in order to allow the caravan to return to the Monaco service park earlier at the end of the stage.

For now, the winter rally remains open to the public.
