As soon as the shakedown ended, spectators began to migrate towards the small village of Mikolajki where the service park is located. A large number of them took part in the autograph session and then in the departure ceremony where the atmosphere was special. Then, they gathered at the edge of the spectacular superspecial which usually opens this event.

Contested two by two, this 2,5 km special is always very slippery and has already caused several surprises. There was none last night. At the wheel of his Hyundai i20 Rally1, Ott Tänak confirmed that he is in great shape. The recent winner from Sardinia set the best time in the shakedown and is the first leader of the rally from Poland. Thierry Neuville was placed just one second behind while Elfyn Evans completed the provisional podium at 1”3. In addition to leading the round, Tänak set a new record on this circuit in 1'42''5.

In WRC2 also the battle has already started. A fan of this type of exercise, Oliver Solberg won ahead of the surprising Italian Roberto Dapra (at 1”4) and Nikolay Gryazin (at 1”6).

The serious things will really begin today with a long day without assistance. Seven special stages are on the program for approximately 112 timed kilometers.
