To Adrien fourmaux, this 2025 season is synonymous with discovery. The discovery of a completely new environment because after five years under the same roof, that of M-Sport, the Northerner agreed to change air to bounce back at Hyundai.

A transfer that allows the Tricolore to revise its ambitions upwards within a team with greater resources and above all more competitive equipment. With the i20, the 29-year-old driver, who tasted his first podiums in WRC last year, will now be able to dream of a first victory in the premier class. In any case, this move to the South Koreans is part of this perspective.

Two preparatory outings

Adrien Fourmaux will soon be able to get a real idea of what his Hyundai i20 is worth in competition since the Rally Monte Carlo is only coming in a few days (January 22-26). To prepare for it, the Frenchman was able to do two test sessions. The first was last December on the occasion of the Rallye Dévoluy, where he had not quite driven his own car, except for that of Thierry Neuville, and more recently in the Hautes-Alpes with the entire Hyundai team and especially his mount.

« It's not yet fully adjusted as I would like., he confided during this final training session before Monte-Carlo. There is a bit of work to do to make me feel completely comfortable in it. We started with the settings we had at Dévoluy. Then, we tried various solutions to see if it suited me or not. I am always looking for the best set up, especially in my braking phases. It does not do exactly what I would like »

Let's race!

Now, Adrien Fourmaux is working with his engineers to fine-tune the final adjustments before his first start in his new colours. At Monte-Carlo, the emphasis will still be on learning, even if the Seclinois will remain on the lookout for a great opportunity.

« My first round of the World Rally Championship was in Monte Carlo (2019 on a Ford Fiesta R5), where I was able to score my first points in the championship, which leaves me with good memories, remember-he.

That said, it’s the toughest rally of the year because of the conditions. It’s hard to describe what it feels like here, it’s really something special. We work closely with the team to determine which tyres we should use, sometimes considering what will be quickest for the whole loop rather than just one stage. For me, my goal in Monte Carlo is to help the team as much as possible with the Constructors’ Championship in mind, but I also know that I need to get a good first time to make sure I score points for the start of my season. It’s like a home event for me, with a lot of stages in France, so getting a good result here would mean a lot to me.. » It's his turn.
