Räikkönen: “Be more regular”

Kimi Räikkönen, although he had already participated in the World Rally Championship last year (Finland), made his real debut as a driver this weekend. rally. Iceman, driving the Citroën C4 of the Citroën Junior Team, managed to finish the event, despite several mistakes (see video), and in particular an exit from the road during which he lost 26 minutes. Without this major incident, the Finn could have finished in the points. At the end of the Rally, Kimi Räikkönen was especially delighted to have continued his learning.

« We made progress during this ordeal, commented the world champion of F1. It was important for the experience to finish this first rally of the season in WRC. We lost a little time hitting snow walls but the important thing was to complete all the special stages. We knew that this Rally Sweden was not an easy event to start our season. We will be able to prepare for the next test. I have not yet driven the Citroën C4 WRC on gravel but I hope to be more consistent in Mexico. »

For his part, Benoît Nogier was satisfied with the debut of the former Formula 1 driver. This first test with Kimi was remarkable, added the team manager of the Citroën Junior Team. We stuck to the plan we set for ourselves. He accelerated throughout the rally. We found him calm about the quantity of parameters he had to discover. »
