The countdown was almost over at the start of SS11, the final section of Saturday's morning loop, when Adrien fourmaux realized that he had not strapped his helmet. Having 20'' to leave the zone, the Frenchman preferred to set off at his ideal time before stopping immediately after the timing cell to correct his mistake. To do this, he had to remove his gloves before managing to fasten his helmet to finally continue on his way.

In this mishap, the crew Hyundai lost about twenty seconds going from 4the the 6e place. “ Everything was fine, he said, dejectedly, during the mid-stage break. I was confident with the car, but we had a problem. Five seconds before the start, I realized that my helmet was not fastened.

There was no one so that we could ask for a postponement of the start for safety reasons. We had 20'' to leave the zone. We will see if it is possible to change the time, because we stopped for a safety reason. It is really unfortunate, because we fight for one or two seconds in the specials and we lose them stupidly like that... » Very marked, Adrien had not delivered a single word at the stop-point of this SS11, which must have never happened to him since he has been competing in the world. Now 6e, he is 20''2 behind Thierry Neuville who occupies the 3e rank.

Adrien and his co-driver Alexandre Coria will have 4 special stages and a little over 50 km timed on Saturday afternoon to make up some of their lost time.

One last one! In his comments he explains that he was surprised by the announcement of his departure and there it is a big timing error, it is the co-pilot who is in charge of that. The fact remains incomprehensible for me to put on his helmet without fastening it immediately.

In his lost time he is even lucky because the images are unstoppable, he restarts before having finished putting his glove back on, and normally I think that is forbidden.

His exit is the consequence, not of his mistake, but of this huge blunder, his co-driver is also responsible for not having checked especially since it seems to me that it is the second time that this has happened to him. It is not far before Abiteboul sends him to a training course "how to remember to fasten your helmet" during the next rally!!!
