The Welshman, who set the fastest time in the tenth special, the second of the day, now has a 2″8 lead over his team-mate Takamoto Katsuta, while the gap between the two men had fallen to just one tenth after the first special of the day. On a Rally From Sweden, where everything is decided by the second, an advantage of almost three seconds is far from insignificant for Evans before the afternoon specials.

Behind the leading duo, it is now Thierry Neuville who points to third place for Hyundai, after setting the fastest time on SS11. The Belgian driver took the lead over his teammate Ott Tänak, slightly slowed down in this same timed section, notably by water coming out of the bonnet of his Hyundai when he set off at full speed on the long straights traced through the Swedish forests.

Setbacks for Fourmaux

The other big loser of the morning is undoubtedly called Adrien fourmaux. The Frenchman, fighting for the podium with his two teammates, lost more than 20 seconds on SS11, after starting slowly, then appearing to readjust his helmet. The consequence, a sixth place in the general classification behind a Kalle Rovanperä who has regained his brilliance with his Toyota Yaris, after a difficult Friday.

Oliver Solberg continues to lead the way in WRC2, with a 28″2 second lead over Roope Korhonen. Robert Virves currently holds third position, in a category that sees the absence of the three French drivers who achieved the hat-trick at the Rallye Monte-Carlo. The reason is quite simple, each driver must select seven rallies before the start of the season, on which he will be able to score championship points.

The same three special stages from the morning will be run again this afternoon from 14:08 p.m., with also a third run in the Umeå Sprint Super Special. This will obviously be followed live with commentary on AUTOhebdo.fr.
