Sami Pajari on the podium in Japan: "I hope the victory will come at some point."

For the fifth time in seven rallies, Sami Pajari has reached the podium. At the Rally Japan, the Finn was unable to challenge Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier, but he didn't falter when it came to delivering another solid performance.

In Japan, Sami Pajari secured his fifth podium finish in seven rallies this season. Seventh in Portugal, and forced to retire in Monte Carlo, the Finn has only managed third-place finishes in his ToyotaThe only better result to date is a second place achieved in Croatia a few weeks ago.

Last weekend, however, in addition to a top-three finish, Sami Pajari distinguished himself by winning a total of four special stages throughout the Rally from Japan. Setting the fastest time on SS6, 11, 13, and 14, the Toyota driver seems to be closing in on the championship lead. WRC.

“Obviously, it’s great to be on the podium. Especially here in Japan, for Toyota. It’s always something special.” he confided to our microphone this SundayToday marks my fifth podium finish of the season. Once again, we benefited from a very good pace this weekend. We even managed to win several special stages here and there.

Pajari is gaining momentum

Satisfied with the final result, but also with the scenario, Sami Pajari rightly highlighted his performance at the end of the Rally Japan. "It wasn't just about driving cautiously to avoid mistakes at all costs and sprint to the finish line. We also delivered some solid performances. Looking at the big picture, we can only be pleased."

When finally asked about his chances of victory, he who remains the only Toyota driver at this stage who has not yet won a rally this year, remains measured, although ambitious. "There are still many, many rallies left this year, we're only halfway through the season! Naturally, I hope that victory will come at some point, but it remains very difficult to predict."

The next event, the Rally of Greece, will see all the top drivers competing – including Sébastien Ogier – but could represent a new opportunity for the Finn, on clay.
