Sébastien Loeb: “Perhaps my greatest victory”

After 78 victories in WRC and nine world titles, the history of Sébastien Loeb in the World Rally Championship has therefore not stopped at the statistical level.

For his third rally in 2018 with the Citroën C3, the Alsatian and his teammate Daniel Elena, achieved a superb performance in Catalonia, winning thanks in particular to an inspired choice of tires this morning.

It is a logically delighted Loeb who therefore signs a 79th victory this Sunday, and further consolidates his legend in the WRC. “It was a big fight until the end and when I found out that I had won at the finish of the last stage, it was an incredible feeling, comments Loeb.

It's really nice to have managed to be in the running again after all these years, because my competitors didn't wait for me on the way and were really riding on the wire from the first to the last meter.

It didn't take long to get my bearings both on the dirt on Friday and on the soggy bitumen of yesterday. Today we made a good move with the tires and then we held on, despite a small mistake. »

According to the pilot Peugeot in World RX, this success will take on a very special place, he who has not yet announced what his future will be in 2019, following the end of the Lion program in Rallycross.

“At the moment, given how the race is going, I would tend to say that this is perhaps my greatest victory, and I'm delighted to offer it to the team that truly deserves it! » Enough to convince Citroën to offer other driving possibilities to its hero of the day in 2019? Let's hope so.
