Sébastien Ogier: “Continue to attack”

The recent winner of the rally from Portugal, Sébastien Ogier, ends the first day of the Jordan Rally in the lead of the event. The Gapençais is almost 31 seconds ahead of Sebastien Loeb.

“We rode well in the three stages, without taking any big risks, recognized the leader this morning, back at the service park overlooking the Dead Sea. The differences are small, which shows that sweeping probably no longer has the same importance as in previous years. Here, the road is very dirty, so much so that it doesn't even seem to get clean as you pass through it. We will think about the strategy to adopt for the second loop. To stay in the lead and open the road tomorrow, I think we need to build a minimum gap of around twenty seconds? »

But Sébastien Ogier went for this gap. The Citroën driver launched a big attack in the last special, the longest of the rally. “We suspected that not all drivers would adopt the same strategy, but our fourth place on the road allowed us to manage that. We decided to drive hard, to get as far ahead as possible. Thirty seconds is good but still not comfortable. We will have to continue to attack, because three other drivers are still in the running for victory! This is a situation that has already succeeded in the past, so I am neither calm nor stressed. There will be a little less sweeping tomorrow, I believe that victory is within our reach. »

Now it remains to go the distance tomorrow, while the young Frenchman will open the track, which will not be the case for Sébastien Loeb?
