Was it Sébastien Ogier was finally in the running for a ninth World Rally Championship title? Helped by the retirement of his teammate Kalle Rovanperä in the final moments, the Gapençais inherited first place overall in Finland and therefore the victory.

A success which allowed him to move up to second place in the championship, even though he has been on a partial program since the 2022 season. When it comes time to do the math, Sébastien Ogier is 27 lengths behind Thierry Neuville with four rounds still in play. So, can we imagine the Habs engaging in all the remaining events to fight for the crown and thus equal the record of 9 titles held by Sébastien Loeb ?

« It's hard to smile right now, a win in Finland is always nice but that's not how we like to get it, he confided after his victory this Sunday. I'm really sorry for Kalle and Jonne, they had incredible pace all weekend. They were pretty unlucky with the stone this weekend. It's a shame for them. We were unlucky in Sardinia and lost in the last special but we are lucky here, it's motorsport. I have to see if we finish the season, but it seems like I have no other option. It's no longer my priority (the title) but we will see. » Sébastien Ogier should soon discuss the subject with Toyota and thus be quickly determined about the rest of its year 2024.
