At 40 years old and for his 14th Rally de Portugal, Sébastien Ogier once again showed his appetite for fighting and his attraction to victory. His ability to make the difference at the desired moment, and his ability to control events, allowed him to become the record holder for success in this round.

This year again, Portugal was the first “classic” event on land in the calendar since the Safari is definitely too atypical. Perfectly known with special stages which are repeated every year, this rally is now a sprint and it is not easy for drivers competing in half-programs to immediately be in the rhythm. Not to mention revenge, Sébastien Ogier recognized that his last participation in this round had not been exceptional (after punctures and an accident, he ranked 50th. Editor's note) and that he wanted to correct this error.
