Leading after the last special on Friday evening, Sébastien Ogier then managed the rest of the weekend perfectly to secure a fifth victory in Sardinia (an absolute record), and a third success in just four rallies contested this season! However, the outcome could have been quite different since the Frenchman had a real scare in the Powerstage this Sunday.

Even though he saw his lead melt like snow in the sun on Ott Tänak as the driver moves through the intermediates Toyota, with experience, never worried and made sure of it to stay ahead of the Estonian by barely 8 seconds. In any case, that's what he declared when he got out of his car.

“In the ruts, I just couldn't get the car to turn and there was no speed at all. So I didn't try to force it and played it safe. I preferred to stop and reverse. It wasn't ideal, but it was enough to win.”, said the Gapençais, all smiles, to the microphone of the official WRC website.

Second consecutive victory for Ogier this season

In 2025, Sébastien Ogier will still be carrying out a partial program in WRCThis does not prevent him from performing at each outing: victory at Monte-Carlo (the 10th), podium at Rally Canary Islands, success in Portugal and therefore triumph in Sardinia. After this second consecutive victory of the season, the eight-time world champion is in second place in the drivers' standings behind his teammate Elfyn Evans.

For him, at the end of this Sardinian ordeal, that was not the most important thing. "I've won several times in many places. It's a type of rally I enjoy, where driving precision is essential, as is tire management. Thanks to the team, great work after Portugal in terms of speed and set-up!", he concluded.
