Sébastien Ogier – Vincent Landais, WRC gold medalists at Rally Finland

While in France pieces of metal are distributed to reward athletes in different sports, Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais would have more than deserved gold in Finland where they showed themselves to be both fast and reliable.

The progress of this 73rd edition of the rally from Finland was amazing. However, it fits perfectly into the thrilling events that occur round after round in this 2024 season. Logically, it was not planned to see Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais lined up in Finland. This mission suited local native Kalle Rovanperä more. The two French people had most likely already planned a vacation during this summer, as they did last year between the Safari in June and the Acropolis in September. However, several elements led Toyota to change his plans. Hyundai first of all proved very solid in the spring to dominate the Manufacturers' championship with a 13-point lead after Sardinia. At the same time, Takamoto Katsuta had difficulty living up to the trust placed in him by his Japanese employer. Finally, still starting among the first, Elfyn Evans also lost his chances of representing Toyota well.
